Catching up . . .

Between my radiation treatments for prostate cancer (excellent prognosis) and my wife's unexpected surgery, I've really neglected this page. Here's what I been writing since the last post in April:

What would a "biblical" church look like? (in response to Pagan Christianity)

What does God smell like?
March 3, 2008

Here are some questions that the girls in my Club SPLASH mentoring group wanted to know about God:

How did God start?
What is heaven?
Is heaven truly wonderful?
How big is God?
How did He come alive?
What does He smell like?
Why doesn’t He have everybody believe in Him?
How is He with us wherever we go?
How come He doesn’t get rid of the devil?
How is He everywhere?
What color is God? How old?
What does He wear?
Why can’t we see Him?

Thanks for praying for the SPLASH leaders as they answer our children's questions.

That's funny
David Drury, Executive Pastor

I love to laugh. The other day I realized that the best part of my day, any day, is the part where I’m laughing. It doesn’t matter if I’m spending it with my family, my coworkers, or a thousand strangers at a boring conference, the best moment is the biggest laugh. It’s not the deepest thought. It’s not when I rest. It’s not getting a lot done. And being that I work “for” a church I’m ashamed to say that the best part of my day usually isn’t when I am praying or reading my Bible or worshipping in Church. Unless, that is, I laugh at something when I’m praying or reading my Bible or laugh during worship at church.

Does this make me a bad person? A trivial person? A court-jester destined to only prowl the sidelines of conventional life? If humor has such an important role in my life does that make my life less serious, less consequential?
